I'll have to read it - but my opinion is that sex and gender are generally exclusive. However when sex involves gender issues then it's a different story. You're discussing the how, why, where, when, what's of gender in sex.

Does that explain it well??

Actually, it was not any comments of yours of which I was thinking when I posted this. However, it was a reply in that thread which seemed to indicate as such.

Ummm... assuming you're speaking of my post about pronouns (?)

Actually, it wasn't my intention to suggest that a community interested in sex is interested in discussing gender issues - it was more that I really had no idea how to write about my FTM partner in my reviews. The logistics can be frustrating.

I generally see sex and gender as exclusive of each other, unless I am writing about a sexual experience with someone who doesn't fit into the binary male/female categories. When I write about those experiences, sex and gender are connected because I want to insure the gender of my partner is correctly identified out of respect to him.

Honestly though - gender was something I didn't really consider much until I found myself involved in this relationship. Now gender is a subject of daily discussion in my world because it really is something we have to deal with daily.

I hope that clarifies...at least some. I know I ramble and sometimes the point gets lost. :)
