My opinion is that if the ED is orever your friend has a BIG problem. Of course you are right, at first it looks like there are solutions without her sleeping with someone else, but in the long run I think she will just have to find intimacy somewhere else.

In reply to Sleeping Dreamer.

Sorry, I missed this. Thanks for your comments. I did tell her everything and, still, she went out and had sex with someone else.

I did not mention it because I didn't want to go too in depth but his ED is related to health problems which, I believe, is diabetes but I am not sure. So they are fairly aware of the situation. From my understanding, it was not just a little ED but he couldn't have an erection at all and his penis seemed to even be shrinking. His doctor had confirmed it wasn't going to get any better with time.

I really think extramarital sex can work but not in their situation.

Having sex outside the marriage is the fast track to it ending- especially if it's only one partner receiving sexual gratification from different partners.

Having sex with people can end with one person falling in love with the person they're fucking. There's also STD's, AIDS/HIV, and the chance of becoming pregnant. How would her spouse feel if she contracted a disease or got pregnant with someone else's child?

Has his doctor explained to him why he can't achieve an erection? Has he been tested for diabetes? Had his testosterone count checked? Does he have depression? G6PD? Is it a mental block? Or just the effects of age? There are various ED medications too... has he tried more than one?

Sex isn't the only form of intimacy in a relationship. If you truly love a person you can engage in other activities; oral sex, sex with toys, hollow dildos- everything you said. When you love a person, physical limitations don't stop you from being able to express that love. What do couples do when one has been paralyzed?

Yes, we have needs that should be fulfilled but we shouldn't sacrifice the feelings of our spouse to fulfill them. You're right on the ball-- Offer up all your suggestions and see what she says.

I tried but she was dead set on getting laid. Her sexual needs are just too strong right now for her to realize that is not the bigger issue at hand.
