Today’s product for review by supplied to me by Unbound Babes, a formerly box-only retailer that landed on my retailer about a year ago. They no longer sell the beneLIGNI BENEBRIGHT, but I wanted to give them a shoutout for being innovative, advocating for equality and sending out the single most entertaining newsletter that I have ever had the pleasure to receive.

Unbound still has subscription options, but you can also shop directly from them. The stock is small because it’s a curated collection and one that I think it worth checking out. The folks at Unbound have been hard at work at producing their own brand, too. Not all items are luxury, but they’re generally high-quality. So it’s no surprise that the beneLIGNI BENEBRIGHT did make an appearance on their site.

It has been years since I used a wooden dildo. I lusted over one before I was able to acquire one, I believe through a giveaway: the NobEssense fling. I was so excited to use it, but then.. I didn’t like it. I never wrote about it here; although, I did post a review on EF that I am loathed to link. So I’ll just give you the highlights.

The Fling had a very narrow neck and a head and base that curved in different directions, not uncommon for toys by that brand. Because of where my pubic bone sits, this made using the toy very uncomfortable.

While I do not think that I have especially large fingers, the finger holes in the handle were too small to be useful. I wound up having to hold the toy around the base. This in itself isn’t a deal-breaker but finger holes in toys are almost always too small for me, a ciswoman, to use as intended (never mind that finger holes are almost always positioned differently from how I hold my hand during use). Considering how rigid this material is, there’s no give there.

I am not sure what I expected when it came to how wood would feel, but I was not immediately a fan. It’s both inflexible and light, and the result was a toy that felt hollow. I know that it wasn’t, but it felt weightless and empty. I felt empty. The lack of weight to guide during use resulted in a lackluster experience. But that’s putting it lightly. The way the Fling felt was distasteful. I felt nearly offended. It was such an emotional reaction to an inanimate object. I felt cold because it left me feeling that way, a feeling that is unusual considering that wood normally has such a warmth.

You can see why it took me so long to get around to trying another wooden toy, but I am glad that I did.

beneLIGNI is a European company, and the name translates to “good tree.” They sell themselves as a company that doesn’t use plastics, and this is true right down to their packaging. They make a line of attractive dildos including some that would work well as anal toys.

I received the BENEBRIGHT made from “nut” wood. I am not sure which nut but am inclined to wonder if it’s nut as the description says the wood exists in North America, Europe, and Asia, but I am no wood expect. The dildo is also available in olive, cherry, mahogany, and maple, all of which are quadruple sealed. I actually would not have chosen nut as the material of choice. I am a bigger fan of mahogany and darker woods. Nevertheless, the lighter color lets the wood grain (“even to wild grain”) shine through nicely.

Other than that, the appearance of the BENEBRIGHT is not particularly interesting, especially compared to some of the companies other dildos or even those by NobEssence. The dildo has a gentle curve with one side more tapered than the other. The narrower end has a midrange diameter of 1.4 inches while the thicker end is just under 1.7 inches wide. Both are usable as is the case with most of the toys made by beneLIGNI The toy is neither notably large or small. beneLIGNI has a comparison chart of toy sizes on their site, and this dildo falls pretty much in the middle lengthwise as 81/4 inches long.

There are some important ways that the BENEBRIGHT stands out, however. First, I was floored by the presentation. The box comes wrapped in a brown paper, tied with twine, and sealed with wax. My longtime readers know that I am not swayed by packaging, much of which winds up in the trash, but the wax seal was such a unique touch that I had to comment on it.

The box that BENEBRIGHT comes in is actually recyclable because it’s made from cardboard and matches their plastic-free ethos. Fitting. The layers remind me of paper mache. There is no storage pouch, but unless you plan on storing your dildo with sharp objects, this should be no issue.

The BENEBRIGHT has virtually no learning curve. I started with the tapered end because it seemed like a better fit. I used a nice dose of lube as it seems to spread out more on wooden toys. Insertion is was easy due to the tapered design, and handling was stress-free. There were no awkward finger holes that I had to avoid (a couple beneLIGNI toys have a knobby base that I bet would work awesomely), and the gentle curve of the dildo placed the other end comfortably within reach. Although, I can see it becoming slippery if your hands are full of lube.

This dildo didn’t change my life, but it did help sway my mind regarding wood. It might be that a different wood feels different in terms of density and hardness. Or it may simply be that BENEBRIGHT was easier to use than the Fling or even that my body’s preferences have adapted. Either way, I certainly don’t mind this one. But it’s one of those toys that stimulate my G-spot without necessarily being pleasurable. I wouldn’t reach for it first.

Since my initial use, I have used the larger end of this dildo for penetration, too. It’s not my preferred way of using it. The small end works for a handle while the larger end is more impressive at filling you. It just doesn’t really do anything for me.

My experience with BENEBRIGHT is a step in the right direction, however. I’m willing to experiment with it more to see if something improves my experience. And I’m certainly going to consider more beneLIGNI toys in the future. There are some intriguing designs for sure.

Although you can no longer get BENEBRIGHT from Unbound, you can buy it directly from beneLIGNI. Note that different woods have different costs. This dildo costs the least in maple (approximately $105) while the nut model is just over $150.

• Lelo’s Siri was my go-to clitoral vibe for years. I replaced it with the followup version, which unfortunately doesn’t quite qualify for this list. But you’ll have a hard time finding the original, which isn’t as powerful, anyway, so I recommend you head over to Lovehoney to pick one up.
• Another red toy from Lelo is the Mona. Just like with Siri, there’s a second version available, too. It’s more powerful and has a slightly different shape, but I wouldn’t opt for it unless you could find it at a good price. You can also buy it from the Of Sex and Love store for $135.20 using the above coupon.
• I wanted to add Uberkinky’s bondage tape to this list because the bold, red tape is fun and functional. At $6, it’s also the cheapest item on this list by a longshot. And if you buy 2 bondage tapes, you’ll get one free.

White

• I’m pretty sure Jimmyjane no longer makes any other Contour massage stones, which is a bummer. These are way nicer than the cheap plastic massagers you get around Christmas time. I actually haven’t used my Contour M in years, but it’s such a nice piece. And it’s rather affordable. Check it out from SheVibe for less than $23.
• Speaking of SheVibe, they’re where I recommend buying the Unicorn dildo by Split Peaches. Now, you might recall that the version I reviewed doesn’t exactly fit the color scheme, and you’re right. But there’s a gorgeous, opalescent white finish you can get it in. It comes in three sizes for your perfect fit.
• There’s only ever been one Tantus toy that I love: the Faerie. And I think I love it because of the pearlescent white shimmer. I didn’t even get the white version, but I can’t complain. Unfortunately, Tantus no longer makes it. Bummer. They do sell a similar Slow Drive, but in different colors.
• Although not a sex toy per se, I’d like to add 101 Vagina into this mix. This coffee table book depicts images of different vulvas, and you know I’m all for body positivity! The hardcover book uses monochromatic images to make a striking impression. Check out my review before you buy it from Amazon.

Blue

There are more awesome blue sex toys in my nightstand than there seems to be any other color. In no particular order, I love these:

• Jimmyjane Form 6 G3. I don’t know why more people aren’t shouting their love for this sleek, rechargeable and powerful vibrator. Not everyone likes it, but I do. Vibrant sells both the blue and pink for $175.
• Now, I didn’t get my Lelo Ora in blue, but the blue one is pretty much the perfect shade to celebrate your country. Pretend I made some horrible analogy about fireworks and masturbating. Okay, you don’t have to. My point is, however, that it’s the perfect shade of blue and does the oral stimulation simulation thing better than anything I’ve tried. The second one made some much-needed improvements. You’ll have no problem finding it at retailers, but it’s currently on sale at Lovehoney and directly from Lelo when using coupon 15june18.
• Minna’s Limon is a pressure-sensitive vibrator that’s perfect for clitoral stimulation and can even be used hands-free. I enjoy it much more than anything else I’ve tried from the company. Unfortunately, there are few retailers selling the Limon anymore. You can buy it from Vibrant but only in the pink.

Necronomicox makes the “Myths” dildo, which is everyone’s favorite creature from a horror story. This one’s made of silicone while many strange dildos I’d try are made of questionable latex. The Xeno art dildo from the same company is creepy and looks like it would feel amazing.

Bad Dragon is well know ’round these parts even though I haven’t had a chance to use any of their toys. The dragon’s tongue caught my eye because of the colors and shape. I didn’t like this movie, but I’d put Alien Dildos’ Avatar dildo inside me. The design is relatively human-esque with interesting texture along the shaft, a large contoured head and balls that I could without but won’t hate on because it’s a freakin’ avatar dildo. Props on the bright blue, right?

I also love the Phallus, which I’d order in metallic purple. Alien Dildos makers all of their toys with either Vac-U-lock or suction cup bases.

In fact, I love all of their designs, but most of them are too big for me.

4. Ghost

Whipsider Rubber works is one of those companies that specialized in awesome toys. This company made the tentacle dildo I bought for a friend. Sadly, I’ve never owned any of their toys myself. Despite the name, dildos like the Ghost are made of silicone. Sold in two colors — tombstone and red velvet, they’re after my own heart — this dildo glows in the dark to depict the ribs and claw hands of a creature that I would hate to see on TV but would fuck for hours.

Runner up: the Jellyfish. Gradient colors. A bulbous “head.” Super texture.

5. Cyborg

Fleshlight was definitely trying to turn heads, for better or worse, with its Freaks lineup. There are matching dildos and masturbators. The details on the deep purple Cyborg dildo are enough to make H.R. Geiger jealous.  It’s the cheapest on this list by far at under $60.

The company obviously thought of Avatar when it came to the Alien dildo, which is a marbled blue and wider than it is thick. I actually really want to put it in my mouth.

Honestly, there are some weirder toys, but the ones I want to use please both my sense of aesthetics and sensibility. Dog dick dildos? No thank you. That Obama dildo? It’s soon going to be dated and isn’t very pretty to begin with. Zombie dildos just gross me the fuck out. You cannot screw a zombie. Its dick will fall off, okay? Okay.

D.1 stone dildo

I liked the design but expected the Ceramix Pleasure Pottery Dildo No. 4 to be a gimmick with its hollow inside for warm. But warming this dildo up far surpassed my expectations. It’s one of the few dildos that I’ve ever used twice, and I think that says a lot.

I’ve been pimping out the Jimmyjane Form 6 G3 all this year even though it was one of those reviews from late last year. The latest version if powerful, versatile and feels luxurious. It’s the first Jimmyjane vibe that I actually like. Maybe it won’t be the last. My review was on the EF, though, so I’ll probably get around to writing something up on OSAL for you to read.

The Delight by Fun Factory was actually my second. I swapped for one of the originals — the ones that came with a charging case — but never got around to using it. When I moved last year, I misplaced the cable. I wound up trying out the Delight for shape to see if I liked it, and I did like it so much that I purchased the new Click n Charge style. Not only do I love the magenta and black, but it fits my anatomy extremely well.

The Decor Stashe Pillow in Velvish Aubergine won’t get me off but it will hide everything that does and in style.

After using the D.1 stone dildo, I have to say that this blows every metal dildo I’ve ever used out of the water. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to use it and see myself using it frequently in the future.

Another new type of toy was the Stronic Eins Pulsator, which has made its way around many of these lists. It feels good. I just need to wash off all that lint, charge it and use it again (and again and again). This was also my first video review, you guys!

Finally, I cannot tell you how much I love my SHE AfterShave Oil. I could show you the nearly-empty bottle, though. I definitely need to purchase another one.

So, there’s the good.

How about the weird? Strange? Disappointing? Ridiculous?

• 

  Cat toy or vibrator?

  The Sonic Revel Body. Cool tech, totally not going to get me off. And those attachments? WTF!

• This costume from ILoveSexy just didn’t cut it. I mean, I kinda hate the cut.
• The Revive Energy isn’t terrible but they needed to test the storage pouch, first. Now, mine looks like a sick leopard.
• Ovo looked like a promising brand, but the kegel balls fucking hurt. The t1 didn’t hurt. It just sucked.
• I got 2 Gigi 2s. I am giving both away. Meh.
• I’m not sure that this UFO vibrator works for me.. or anyone.
• The U Touch Down and U Touch Up just need.. to be better.
• These “keyless cuffs” are so not practical.
• This vibrator looks like a cat toy. Pretty sure the cat toy would get me off better.
• 

  Bummer..

  Why the fuck are companies still making these pieces of shit?

• I’d rather fuck the actual Flash, and he’s my least favorite of the Justice League.
• But, hey, at least it’s better than vibrating vaginal balls.
• Minna Ola is the most overrated, over-hyped, overpriced piece of junk I’ve used.. until the Revel Sonic.
• Remember when that glass dildo broke before I even had a chance to use it?

So let me help you avoid the same mistakes I’ve made by compiling this list of toys that I just can’t recommend; in fact, I don’t want you to have your heart broken just a little like mine was.

Vibrators

• I don’t know what the hell was the problem with my Mimi. Either it was defective, or everyone who liked it was batshit crazy. Now, I don’t want to insult all my readers, but we were not having the same experience at all. So I let my cat chew on my Mimi before trading it away. Just kidding. I can’t control those pussies.
• I have disliked almost all of the Jimmyjane vibrators I’ve used, and the Form 2 was no exception. From weak, buzzy vibrations to breaking randomly, it was all bad.

• There was so much buzz about the iRide. It wasn’t intended for human use at all.
• Minna Ola uses technology that sounds so intriguing but is freakin’ frustrating to use in reality. I spent a bit of money on this G-spot vibrator, and now it’s sitting in a drawer.
• Bbold Premium is gorgeous, and I’ve always liked BSwish as a company. However, almost all of the vibes — especially the rechargeable ones — are stupidly weak.

Try this instead: Mona 2

Dildos

• I haven’t liked a single toy from Tantus. I don’t understand it, but the Splish was among the worst. I should have paid more attention to the specs, yes, but there’s not a single reason for a dildo to be the size of a pinky finger like this was.
• Tantus Delta was flexible as fuck. Eww.
• And the Alumina Revolve? sort of pretty. Totally disappointing.
• Don’t even get me started on the Pure Wand.
• Icicles Number 39 was gorgeous. I think I could have loved if.. If it didn’t break before I even got to use it. I don’t want to say that you shouldn’t try Pipedream’s glass, but this gives me serious misgivings about the entire line.

Try this instead: Tex, Twist, Fun Wand

Sensual/Massage

• The Cake Body Butter smelled like shit. Well, not quite. It was rancid.
• And Lelo’s massage candle smelled okay but was terrible when it came to massage.
• Lelo Luna Beads were all hyped up. I don’t think that there’s any point to multiple weights in kegel balls.

Try this instead: K-balls, Shunga massage oil, Contour M massage stone, Oil of Love: Raspberry Kiss,

Lingerie

• Material Girl Fetish Fantasy dress was too small and unflattering in so many ways. The lack of adjustability was also terrible. It was pretty ridiculous.

Try this instead: Kissable Leopard babydoll, Sheer Pleasure Chemise, Raspberry fields babydoll 

BDSM

• The Touch of Fur rabbit flogger actually came apart when I used it. I sewed it back together by hand because I fuckin’ love the feel of it.
• The Crystal Whip by Liberator is attractive and versatile, but it’s also cheap quality-wise. Rhinestones fell off. I think I superglued one back on.
• Finally, the Sasha harness looked cool but didn’t fit in a flattering way. It was one of the biggest bummers ever.

Try this instead: Wartenberg wheel, Under the bed restraints,

Now, I must admit that I’ve never used an acrylic toy, but I bet it would be a lot like glass — slick, cool and easy to apply pressure because of the rigidity. I know y’all don’t necessarily love pink, either, but the finger-like curve on this dildo is sure to be an effective G-spotter. At $28, it’s really a good deal to begin with, and you can also use the other end for general stimulation inside and out.

If you’re looking for something prettier, try the Star Delight. The Tex in VixSkin is softer and more realistic. The 24K Double Pleasure is more versatile and not pink.
