10th Anniversary Giveaway Winners

September 3rd, 2018

I know that my giveaway ended two weeks ago, but I left for vacation a day later, and I didn’t want to rush picking and notifying the winners, so I waited. It didn’t occur to me when I posted the giveaway that it ended so closely to my vacation or that if I waited, Labor Day would sneak up on us. But there you have it.

The picking process was a bit odd. As I got down to the last few items, it was difficult to ascertain who would really like it — or even qualified based on shipping restrictions. While randomness played a bigger role for the first few winners, the latter ones required a bit more finesse. While I initially thought there would be ten winners, I forgot to take into consideration that some prizes had multiple winners.

So I wound up with 18 winners! Way more than I anticipated. And I was still able to give multiple prizes as a first, second, and third prize, then a number of individuals who won a single prize each.

I have already contacted all of the winners and sponsors. So if you did not receive an email, you, unfortunately, were not a winner. I appreciate everyone who participated and would like to give you a rundown of the numbers before I announce winners.

First, I had 420 participants and nearly 10,000 entries. It was initially over 10,000, but I had to delete some for cheating. I saw very little cheating in the beginning, but once the giveaway hit Reddit, I was invalidating entries and deleting a few entrants every day. This is probably partially due to people who saw only the Gleam form and not the blog post, which further explained some options.

The most used entry options were “What prize do you want?,” following me on Twitter and visiting on Facebook, and visiting sponsors on IG. I find this interesting because the Instagram options were closer to the middle of the entry list than the top, and I personally don’t use it.

Options that required input were less popular. Participants were much more likely to tell me how they found the giveaway than answer a poll about their favorite features or comment on the blog, for example. While I got some consistent replies to my QOTD on Twitter, many people misunderstood that option.

I actually had the fewest entries for the options that meant the most to me, but this giveaway really provided me with a way to better connect with my followers, which is what I wanted. I found myself a bit frustrated at some of the suggestions for Science of Sex topics as most of them were completely unscientific, and a few I had already covered LOL.

II got the fewest responses when I asked y’all to Meme My Cat, but those who did were amazing. Just look at this one:

You can see more entries herehere, and here. For some reason, it’s not showing all the entries when you click the hashtags.

This leads me to the last entry type: design your own. I think I stole this idea from Epiphora, but I really wanted to let my readers run free to show me how much they wanted to win and to express themselves.

The winner of this is ClaraSol20, who submitted the AMAZING artwork below. She titled this “Can’t Have Fun Without the Funds.” Click to expand.

ClaraSol design your own entry

ClaraSol’s artwork made her the clear winner of the grand prize

ClaraSol was also actively engaged on Twitter and the blog, so I was glad she was the winner!

I rewarded her with four items instead of three:

  • Fun Factory Layaspot
  • 4-Point Restraint Kit
  • Come As You Are By Emily Nagoski
  • Bondage Boutique Seduce Me Lover’s Bed Bondage Kit

The rest of the winners were more randomly chosen through Gleam.

The second-place winner is blogger Makeupandsin who won:

  • Ultimate Erotic Massage
  • Medium Unicorn Horn dildo
  • Red Velvet and Absinthe

Heather was the third-place winner and walked away with

  • Superior Blue Glass Double-ended Dildo by Chrystalino
  • The Good Vibrations Guide to the G-spot

The rest of the winners each one a single item.

  • Athena – Tell Me What You Want: The Science of Sexual Desire and How It Can Help You Improve Your Sex Life by Justin Lehmiller
  • Cleo – Scoop vibrator
  • Rachel- Sex Q&A
  • Will – $50 from PinkCherry
  • George – Pleasure Works dildo
  • Joe- $100 to SheVibe
  • Michael- Neon Wand kit
  • Wesley – Fun Factory Lady Bi
  • Gatien – BDSM: A Guide for Explorers of Extreme Eroticism
  • Sandor – BDSM: A Guide for Explorers of Extreme Eroticism
  • Marianna – BDSM: A Guide for Explorers of Extreme Eroticism
  • Todd – Tickle My Tush by Sadie Allison**
  • Lauriann – Sexually dominant woman**
  • Amanda – Mistress Manual**
  • Courtney – Sex Outside the Lines by Chris Donaghue**

If you see your name on this list but haven’t been contacted, you can email me with your shipping address, including name and the name of your prize. Otherwise, I will choose new winners in 72 hours.

Thanks everyone for participating. I can’t wait until next year!

**I am waiting on responses from several winners, so someone else may still be in the running.

Adriana’s 10-Year Blog Anniversary Giveaway

July 31st, 2018

AKA Get your sex toys and books here!

of sex and love anniversary giveaway

I don’t always host blog anniversary giveaways or start sentences like a meme (although, you will be able to get extra entries if your meme-minded). But I figured that 10 years is a big’un. So I posted 5000+ words about my experience as a sex blogger. Then I got to work contacting companies to see who might like to sponsor some prizes to my wonderful readers.

I’d like to thank all my sponsors: Vibrant, Stockroom, Ayzad, GoodVibes, Screaming O, SheVibe, PinkCherry, PeepShow Toys, Split Peaches, Cleis Press, LovehoneyBabeland and Simon and Schuster. All these wonderful companies have made this giveaway possible.

Like many bloggers, I am providing you with some of my more cherished toys that I’ve reviewed over the years. I was so excited to provide my readers with a chance to win Split Peaches’ Unicorn dildo, not just because it’s novel but because I love it. Stockroom provided me with a bed restraint system; I’ve loved mine for years. Thanks to them, I’ve also got a Neon Wand to give away.hjnrefdd

You’ll see that I’ve also included a number of books. I’m increasingly focusing on the science of sex (so much so that I have a feature dedicated to it) and reviewing more books. I’m sure that my readers want to get their hands on some of these titles, and I am thrilled to be able to give away Come As You Are and Tell Me What You Want, among others (some of which are still waiting me to write a review).

I’d like to take a moment to lament over the number of toys that I wasn’t able to include because they no longer exist (the toy and, in some cases, the company). Phallix and Fucking Sculptures are defunct. Fun Factory no longer makes the Twist. I enjoyed the Ceramix line by Pipedream, but that no longer exists. We’ve got very few companies hand-blowing quality glass pieces, and that’s a shame.

It’s not just glass, however. Some of my favorite vibrators can no longer be found. I’m talking about Fun Factory’s Yooo, the Tuyo, the Faerie by Tantus. The list reads like a scavenger hunt of long-forgotten sex toys, and it continues to grow.

But let’s focus on positives. Many companies have agreed to sponsor prizes for this giveaway, and I know you’re curious what they are!

The Prize List

I’ve broken down toys by location. Pay attention when you’re entering. If you are not eligible for a prize, it will invalidate your entry. Any caveats are in parenthesis.

Worldwide

Toys cannot be shipped to countries where they are illegal.

Canada and USA

  • Pleasure Works dildo of your choice from GoodVibes
  • Fun Factory Lady Bi from Babeland

Canada, New Zealand, Europe and USA

USA Only

  • Scoop by Screamin O — rechargeable clitoral vibrator that’s surprisingly rumbly
  • Red Velvet and Absinthe from Cleis Press (continental US) — a collection of supernatural erotica that might just be my favorite
sex education books for giveaway prizes

The following books are all shipping from me directly so will ship via Media Mail

Gift Cards

  • $100 to SheVibe
  • $50 from PinkCherry

Shipping to be determined:

  • Come As You Are By Emily Nagoski from Simon and Schuster — perhaps the book about female sexuality, desire, etc
  • Superior Blue Glass Double-ended Dildo by Chrystalino from Peepshowtoys

Now if you’ve read this far and you’re excited about the options, hold on to your strap-ons, folks. Because they just might be more to come.

How to Enter This Giveaway

I am switching things up with this giveaway. After all, it’s been ten years. It’s time! There will be plenty of the usual entry options, and the only mandatory entry is free.

Design Your Own Entry – This entry allows you to pick your own entry that explains why you should win. You can write a haiku, take a photo, make some art, bake a cake. The winner of this will get to choose three prizes.

Question of the Day – Every day, I will post a question on Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook. Answer the question in any of those places. This entry requires you to paste the link of your entry into the Gleam form. You can come back every day to answer. The question will remain on my socials if you want to answer for fun. I will attempt to schedule questions at the same time every day.

These entries are designed to encourage engagement, to build bonds, to start a conversation. While I don’t instate word minimums or anything like that, I appreciate thoughtful responses.

I am willing to forgive one mistake but will remove all entries from any person who repeatedly breaks the rules.

I will choose at least 10 winners, which meand some people will have a chance at multiple prizes.

#NSFW Creative Cursing Coloring Book [Review]

May 17th, 2017

Do you guys remember last year when adult coloring books became *the* thing? Suddenly, everyone was selling them or using them, and a new market blossomed. One of the cool things about *adult* coloring books when compared to those of my childhood was that they could be full of adult themes: sophisticated designs, sex toys, skulls, and curse words — like the #NSFW Creative Cursing Coloring Book that SheVibe sells.

I really enjoy the coloring bandwagon. I saw the appeal. It’s relaxing and fun. It’s a little artistic. Adult coloring books combine childlike delight with a devious streak. Win-win, right?

Now, you might wonder whether SheVibe is the right company to make an adult coloring book, but I’d like to remind you that the website is decorated with gorgeous comic-style covers every month, and many customers receive boxes full of similar art (not me.. yet). It’s a match made in Heaven.

I opted for the Creative Cursing Coloring Book because I’ve got a foul mouth, but if you want to color scenes, SheVibe has you covered, too.

You can actually buy those 4 coloring books as a bundle to save money.

The Creative Cursing Coloring Book is full of everyone’s favorite curse words as well as some newly-creative words. Some definitely seem inspired by the Brits (Fucking Wanker, anyone?), who we all know cuss quite colorfully.

Each word is detailed, typically with a floral (paisley) design.  By my count, there are 37 pictures to color including a copy of the cover, which is the last page. The pictures are printed front-and-back on the pages, but they’re fairly thick stock so you could probably use pens or markers without too much bleed through.

Thus far, I’ve used coloring pencils and have discovered that I am not great at choosing palettes. Woops.

This brings me to another issue, which is not at all the fault of SheVibe or the Creative Cursing Coloring Book. I have weak joints, and pain likes to flare up when I’m writing or drawing (painting my nails can be a bitch sometimes). So I’ve not spent too much time with the #NSFW Creative Cursing Coloring Book. I wish I could.

It would be nice if the pages were perforated if you wanted to tear them out to color (or have your friends join you) or simply to show off when you’re done. But I assume this would bring up the price quite a bit.

There are similar products that are readily available, and some may be cheaper than this coloring book from SheVibe, but you might opt for this if you want to support the company and show appreciation for Alex Kotkin, who is the artist behind the coloring books and comic covers on the site.

I can tell you that everyone who’s seen the Creative Cursing Coloring book has been super excited over it and was interested in finding their own. I think this would make a great gift.

I’d like to thank SheVibe for providing not just this coloring book for me to review!

Sportsheets Door Jam Cuffs Giveaway

August 12th, 2015

Sportsheets is among my most favored companies when it comes to beginner-friendly BDSM gear. I have their under the bed restraints, which have been imitated by countless companies. They also make devices for having sex in the shower, harnesses, hog tie sets, collars, cuffs and leashes and more.

You’ll find all of these items — and more — on UberKinky, the generous sponsor of this giveaway! Although I don’t currently have an S&M partner, I wouldn’t want my readers to suffer. So one of you lucky folks will soon own Sportsheets Door Jam Cuffs!

The door jam cuffs are designed to be place over any closed door. The straps are thin enough, and you wind up using the pressure between the door and jam to hold them in place. The two cuffs then wrap around your wrists, and you can has sex or endure whatever flavor of torture is up your alley in a standing position.

Alternatively, you could place them under the door so someone who is sitting or lying on the ground  is cuffed.

When you’re finished, simply open the door and remove the cuffs. There’s no permanent installation required, and storage is easy. The included cuffs use Velcro to secure, like the under the bed restraints. But you could swap them out with sturdier and more secure cuffs if you’d prefer.

If this sounds like something you’d like to try, you’re in luck. Sign in to the Gleam form below to get your free entry, then complete other entries and give my sponsor some love. Stop by every day to do things like tweet to increase your chance s of winning.

Good luck!

Sportsheets Door Jam Cuffs Giveaway

Ends September 2nd.

Winner must live in one of these countries.

I received no compensation for this post. Affiliate links will earn me a small commission when you make a purchase.

The Big Book of Domination Review + Giveaway

March 5th, 2015

Perhaps the single most noticeable way that The Big Book of Domination differs from The big Book of Submission is the number of stories. At over 200 pages, this book could have dozens of stories, but it actually only contains 25 stories. With 69 stories in The Big Book of Submission, each story was shorter on average.

When it comes to what I like in erotica, this isn’t actually a boon. I love sudden fiction. I love sultry sex in 2000 words or less. I like reading it. I like writing it. I don’t need the flowery descriptions that add to word count. I’m not a huge fan to a ton of buildup. Show me the main event.

It just seems like the point where I would end the story introduces another scene, and I can’t keep myself glued to the pages. Perhaps I get off too quickly, but this isn’t really conducive to how I use erotica.

I also found it hard to keep my attention rapt through the first three stories, which involved male domination. Fortunately, the fourth ushers in a domme, but the first three could, perhaps, been broken up in a different order. While most of the stories do seem to pair a male dominant with a female submissive, I do like how several of them play with BDSM roles. Several stories involve submissive experiment with holding the metaphorical whip.

There are other themes that I noted in The Big Book of Domination. These include power exchanges that are surprising and somewhat sudden, either between strangers or from the point of a view of a submissive discovering another’s dominant tendencies.

Because so many of these stories seem to be from the submissive’s view point, The Big Book of Domination isn’t as different from The Big Book of Submission as I think it could be. It’s more of a general BDSM collection in my opinion. With that said, the stories happen in many different and sometimes unusual settings. There is an overall lack of cliche, even if that means I sometimes am turned off by something such as manly boot licking.

This isn’t to say that I hated the book. I didn’t. There were a few stories I found particularly enjoyable, especially the last story, “Little Angel” by Evan Mora. It was one of the many stories where someone who typically identifies as a submissive experiments with dominance and finds it thrilling!

Now, this might not be the perfect book for me but I feel confident that many people will like it. In fact, some people specifically like erotica that’s a little longer than most sudden fiction. If you liked The Big Book of Submission but thought the stories should be longer or even if you didn’t like it because each piece wasn’t long enough, I would suggest you check out The Big Book of Domination.

One lucky reader of OSAL will get their chance to read the book thanks to the folks at Cleis Press, who are sponsoring a giveaway. One American winner will get their hands on this anthology, and you can determine whether or not this book is two thumbs up.

Enter using the giveaway widget below. Remember to check back daily to earn more entries and increase your chance of winning!

Good luck!

The Big Book of Domination

Ends March 26.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
